Nationwide Security Checkpoints

Celebrating America’s 250th with Enhanced Checkpoints

How Industry Partners Enhanced TSA Checkpoints for America’s 250th and a Mega-Decade of Events

Challenge

America’s 250th Anniversary marks a historic period for air travel. The ongoing mega-decade of events is predicted to bring more than 40 million additional visitors to the United States. Major sporting events such as the 2028 Summer Olympics and the 2034 Winter Olympics will draw massive international and domestic crowds.

Airports and federal agencies are preparing for a dramatic increase in passenger volumes and global visibility. As part of that preparation, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is transforming checkpoints with significant technology enhancements, including advanced digital signage and content celebrating the country’s history and semiquincentennial.

Security checkpoints are among the most important and sensitive moments in the passenger journey, with TSA upholding the highest safety standards while supporting millions of travelers through screening. When passengers are unsure of what to do or where to go, lines slow and stress increases. TSA needed a communication solution to:

  • Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary and other major events

  • Help travelers prepare for screening

  • Improve checkpoint throughput

  • Support a more engaging passenger experience

Any solution had to be implemented on time and operate smoothly during the historic travel surge of the mega-decade of events.

Approach

To meet the moment, TSA assembled a multidisciplinary team of industry experts to elevate the checkpoint experience.

Synect led a project team including K2 Security Screening Group, Faith Group, and Saefix. Together, they created a dynamic, informative, and engaging program that uses smart digital signage to enhance passenger experiences and celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary.

They selected Synect’s award-winning Better, Faster Security Checkpoints program to support the checkpoint enhancement initiative. Synect collaboratively developed a custom content strategy for the anniversary program.

The strategy combined:

  • Practical security-related instruction and guidance

  • Branded, patriotic event-aligned digital media

  • Engaging animations and visuals

The custom content program runs on Synect’s award-winning ReadySeeGo® Vision™ product.

Solution

Three ReadySeeGo Vision installations in each airport deliver branded content for America’s anniversary alongside sequenced digital messaging that guides passengers through screening.

Event-driven messaging and patriotic visuals engage travelers.

The content includes:

  • Historical storytelling

  • American art

  • Freedom 250

  • International Naval Review

  • Other anniversary-related topics

The first phase spans 12 major U.S. airports serving Florida, New York, Washington, D.C., Eastern Texas, and other key U.S. travel markets. 11 deployments are now live, with the final implementation scheduled for late July.

Synect provides platform architecture, content development, training, and ongoing remote support. K2 Security Screening Group, a leader in aviation security and systems integration, manages the project and oversees the deployment and installation of ReadySeeGo units. Faith Group provides engineering and infrastructure support, including network design and coordination, and is working with TSA and airport stakeholders to determine installation locations and infrastructure needs. Saefix provides and configures integrated wireless gateways with cellular service for flexible connectivity needed for these diverse deployments.

Technology and display support from LG, TSI Touch, and MX Maven helped create a high-impact, scalable solution for busy airport environments.

Results

This initiative brings America’s historic events into the checkpoint, boosting excitement and engagement. The first phase enables better communication at 12 of the 30 busiest airports in the country, and that number will continue to grow as the program continues.

For passengers, the impacts are immediate. Clear guidance helps them prepare for screening early, and they move through the checkpoint more confidently and quickly.

Airport teams benefit from an adaptable communication platform that helps alleviate volume spikes and checkpoint-related challenges, easing operational strain and enhancing the passenger experience.

For TSA, the rollout represents an evolution in security screening communication and engagement. It supports the agency’s mission to protect the nation’s transportation systems while enabling safe and efficient movement.

As the country prepares for a mega-decade of global events, this checkpoint enhancement initiative demonstrates how strategic content, scalable technology, and a partnership-driven deployment can improve the most important moments in the passenger journey.
