Airports of All Sizes Can Create Better Customer Experiences with Content Strategy and a Smart DCMS

Expensive screens aren’t the key to delivering exceptional airport customer experiences.

Content strategy is.

Every message passengers see as they move through the airport shapes their journey. A strong content strategy powered by a smart digital content management system (DCMS) ensures that those messages inform, engage, and delight every passenger.

Every step of the airport journey becomes easier when content supports passengers.

Whether an airport serves ten passengers or ten million, content strategy is the foundation for creating the seamless, stress-free experiences modern passengers expect.

Today, we’ll explore how three airports leverage content-first strategies to create unforgettable passenger experiences while supporting their operational goals.

RKS: Immersive, Localized Experiences Highlight a Hometown Hub

Small airports make a big impact. Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport (RKS) is preparing to nearly double their passenger volume in the next five years, and with their new content strategy, they’re ready to welcome each one to the Cowboy State in style.

As part of a $43 million terminal upgrade, RKS launched a high-impact content experience designed to celebrate their community and Wyoming’s unique landscape. Synect supported the celebration with custom content tailored to the airport’s unique identity and display environment, blending visuals shared by the airport with assets created by our Orlando-based studio.

One of the terminal’s most striking new features is a wraparound 4K digital display in their exit lane, where three connected Daktronics’ displays welcome passengers as they deplane. The immersive installation welcomes passengers as they deplane, and it’s impossible to miss, which creates incredible opportunities for content to connect with passengers.

The display’s placement and motion design were carefully considered to ensure calm, captivating visuals that remain consistent from every angle.

Across the terminal, nineteen screens driven by Synect’s Passenger360® DCMS greet travelers with curated visuals that connect passengers to the region’s identity, featuring local landmarks like Killpecker Sand Dunes and Flaming Gorge.

By establishing their new screens as storytelling tools, RKS is making every moment more memorable. With content that attracts attention, celebrates local experiences, and engages passengers, the airport turns every moment into an opportunity to create meaningful connections. Updated amenities and new technology streamline the passenger experience even further, turning every trip through the airport into a hometown welcome.

ABE: Streamlining Security for a Stress-Free Start to Every Journey

Efficiency and clarity are critical for Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE), which serves more than a million passengers annually. Security checkpoints are often one of the most stressful parts of the airport experience, and ABE is focused on making the experience friendlier and faster.

Using Passenger360 as their DCMS and ReadySeeGo installations for flexible content deployment, ABE introduced dynamic visual instructions to guide passengers through divestment and screening. Clear, actionable messages reduce confusion, help lines move faster, make waits feel shorter, and create a calmer checkpoint.

By guiding passengers with dynamic visual instructions, ABE demonstrates how content can transform high-stress areas into calm, efficient spaces by turning attention into action. The result is a smoother start to every journey and a measurable improvement in the airport customer experience.

MCO: Making Every Airport Customer Experience Magical

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the 9th busiest in the country, serving more than 49 million passengers every year. For an airport of this size, consistent and clear communication is critical. But creating moments of delight for every passenger is just as important.

With Passenger360 driving content on more than 2,100 displays, MCO delivers real-time updates and localized content across the airport. One award-winning example can be seen above their checkpoint.

As passengers queue for security, they see a digital version of the journey ahead. Annie, the airport’s intrepid astronaut mascot, makes her way through a digital replica of the airport. Hand-built by Synect, every frame shares details to help passengers prepare for their airport experience. Annie shares tips for divestment, recommends concessions, and much more.

MCO proves that even in the busiest environments, content strategy can help transform stress into satisfaction. By attracting passenger attention, quickly building a relationship, and maintaining engagement, the experience helps passengers stay informed while reducing friction at the checkpoint. Annie’s Journey earned two awards at the 2026 Digital Signage Awards: a high commendation for Immersive and Experiential Environments and the annual award for Helpful Information.

Content Strategy Serves Airports of Every Size

No matter the size, airports share a common goal: to make every passenger feel welcome, informed, and empowered. Content-first strategy is the key to achieving that goal. When airports align stakeholders, invest in flexible, future-proof systems, and center the passenger experience, they can create content that reduces stress, boosts engagement, and builds loyalty.
