Security checkpoints were in the spotlight at the 2026 Digital Signage Awards (DSAs)!

At the ceremony in Barcelona, Synect accepted four awards for our work with Orlando International Airport (MCO) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Over the past decade, we’ve worked closely with our clients to bring their innovations to life and transform one of the most complex (and often stressful) environments within the airport: the security checkpoint.

We’re proud to celebrate these achievements with MCO and TSA.

Read on to learn more about these award-winning collaborations.

Creative Excellence at MCO’s Checkpoint

This year, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) earned two awards for Annie’s Airport Journey at MCO:

  • Winner for Creative Excellence: Helpful Information

  • High Commendation for Immersive and Experiential Environments

Annie’s Airport Journey transforms the space above the checkpoint into a dynamic storytelling experience. Featuring MCO’s beloved mascot, Annie the Astronaut, twin video walls display a blend of playful animations, just-in-time security guidance, and concession highlights to help passengers feel confident and prepared for their journey.

Hand-crafted by Synect’s Orlando studio and powered by our digital content management system, Passenger360©, Annie’s journey is an enormous creative milestone that addressesdesigned to address key operational needs. Airport easter eggs make security more memorable. Engaging content makes lines feel shorter. Helpful suggestions and instructive visuals help passengers prepare for screening early, reducing anxiety and helping lines move more quickly.

This year’s awards build on MCO’s history of award-winning collaboration with Synect. Our Digital Aquarium earned multiple Digital Signage Awards in 2024, including the Innovation in Management and Control Software award.

Together, we’re proving that when strategy, systems, and storytelling align, every part of the airport can be a highlight in the passenger journey.

Customer-Focused Innovation with TSA

TSA took home two awards after the ceremony for the expansion of our Better, Faster Security Checkpoints program:

  • Winner for Customer and Partner Support

  • Winner for Temporary/Pop-Up Projects

Our collaborative development process built on the success of our award-winning Better, Faster Security Checkpoints work to create the checkpoint of the future. In the expanded program, three ReadySeeGo form factors (Vision, Glance, and Focus) work together to deliver clear, contextual, timely information as passengers move through the checkpoint.

Dynamic action cards instruct and engage passengers, delivering key guidance precisely when it's needed. In the queue, ReadySeeGo Vision and Glance remind passengers to prepare travel documents, remove heavy coats, and prepare their items for screening. At divestment, ReadySeeGo Vision delivers visual guidance to help passengers fill the bins, with optional audio instructions pro-actively addressing common questions.

Together, they create a calmer, faster checkpoint. Officers spend less time repeating verbal instructions and more time focused on screening. Passengers are better prepared for screening and divest more quickly. Stress decreases. Throughput improves. The checkpoint is more efficient.

The expansion of our Better, Faster Security Checkpoints program builds on a legacy of collaborative innovation between TSA and Synect. In previous years, we earned several Digital Signage Awards for innovation in software, management systems, and operational impact. As we look to the future, we’re excited to expand the program even further.

Award-Winning Security Raises the Bar for Checkpoint Experiences

We’re particularly proud that this year’s wins are centered on security. While popular perceptions of the checkpoint often center on stress and uncertainty, our clients’ work demonstrates the power of passenger-focused innovation.

Better communication creates better outcomes. Clarity reduces friction. Smart systems enhance efficiency. When those elements come together, security checkpoints go from functional spaces to award-winning experiences.

Congratulations to our partners at MCO and TSA for their vision and leadership. It takes a lot to dig in and tackle one of the airport’s most challenging and dynamic areas, and we’re grateful and proud of these collaboration over the years. We can’t wait to keep raising the bar for airport experiences throughout the country.
