Smarter Airport Signage Starts Here: See Synect at FTE Global 2025

Updated: Aug 19

Smarter airport signage doesn’t start with screens. It starts with strategy.

This fall, we’re proud to return to the FTE Global stage with fresh ideas. Alongside experts from some of the biggest and busiest organizations in the industry, our team will explore what it really takes to create content that leaves a lasting impact.

Our 2025 session, “Smarter Signage Starts Here: Strategy, Content, and Systems that Deliver,” will take place on Thursday, September 11th at 11:30 AM. You'll see some familiar faces in our panel and even more of the exciting ideas that made last year’s panel a standing-room only event. We’ll be putting the spotlight on content, exploring how leading airports are using smart strategies and systems to engage passengers, streamline operations, and drive ROI.

Will we see you in Long Beach?

One of Synect's team members uses a QR code on a ReadySeeGo installation to access the FTE app in 2024.
FTE Global’s mobile app makes it easy to connect with fellow attendees. We loved promoting it via our ReadySeeGo device and using it during the 2024 show!

You can use the FTE app to book a meeting with us, stop by Booth D5 to chat, or join the Accessibility Tech & Innovation Briefing Tour on September 10th at 3:30 p.m. to hear how Synect’s solutions are broadening passengers’ access to information in airports across the country.

Whether you’re investing in displays for a new terminal, updating your content, or exploring new ways to build better passenger experiences, our panel will have actionable insight and inspiration for your next signage project.

What Do You Need to Create Smarter Airport Signage?

Behind every eye-catching display in an airport is a strong content strategy

Understanding what must be communicated, when it needs to be said, and how it can reach the right passengers at the right times is the key to creating memorable content. For airports, it’s the difference between a distracting display and one that influences passenger behavior and enhances operations.

One of the best examples comes from Orlando International Airport (MCO). Over the past decade, they’ve continued to raise the bar for passenger experience. When their award-winning Digital Aquarium came to life at the West Checkpoint in 2021, it set a new standard for the passenger experience.

MCO's Digital Aquarium informs and engages passengers as they queue for security.
Dynamic content keeps passengers engaged and informed as they queue for security.

Sea creatures move around key pieces of information to help passengers prepare for security screening. Motion catches their attention, making it easier to notice real-time updates on wait times, divestment tips, and more. Even the underwater setting was a strategic choice: it establishes a sense of place within the airport while helping viewers relax.

Smart Strategy Supports Smarter Systems

When airports start with strategy, they’re better positioned to choose systems that will support their long-term goals.

Rather than using separate tools to support FIDS, wayfinding, emergency messaging, and every other type of content, leading airports are turning toward a unified digital content management system (DCMS). Unified systems mean unified content: fewer silos, more flexibility, and assets that work harder across the airport, delivering a cohesive experience and requiring less manual intervention.

With DCMS, content becomes an ecosystem - not an afterthought.
Smart systems transform content from an added layer to a high-impact communication ecosystem, as Rob Bischoff, Gensler's Principal and Global Digital Experience Design Leader, emphasized during our 2024 FTE Global Panel.

Smarter systems are simpler to scale. With a DCMS, airport content can grow as their facility grows. At MCO, for example, Synect’s DCMS, Passenger360®, has helped them scale their visual communication program from Terminals A and B, to the train station, to the new Terminal C.

It also makes it easier to implement new content and new strategies at the size and speed that best supports their long-term goals. Implementing content programs that target specific pain points is simpler, and scaling those programs into airport-wide communication solutions is painless.

Four Ways to Meet Our Team in Long Beach

We’re excited to bring these ideas (and plenty of surprises) to the FTE Global stage in September. There's never been a better time to reimagine airport signage—passenger expectations are higher than ever, and airports need clear, consistent content to create the experiences passengers crave. If the topic is on your mind, we’d love to talk about it with you.

We can't wait to welcome you to Long Beach!
